Pune: Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) worker’s son fires gun in air, cousin injured in accidental shooting; Incident in Hadapsar

Pune: In a shocking incident, the son of a Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) worker fired a gun into the air while riding a bike to a birthday celebration, accidentally injuring his cousin sitting in front of him.
The injured has been identified as Vaibhav Shravan Gawli (20), a resident of Keshavnagar, Mundhwa, who works as a delivery boy. The shooter was his cousin, Sumit Khavale, who fired the shot using a country-made pistol. The incident occurred on May 29 around 8:15 PM near Pandhare Mala on Canal Road leading to Satavwadi, Hadapsar.
According to police, Vaibhav, Sumit, and another friend Basavaraj Sutar were on a bike heading to a birthday event in Hadapsar. During the ride, Sumit Khavale, who was illegally carrying a country-made pistol, pulled it out and fired a shot into the air. Unfortunately, the bullet struck Vaibhav in the left shoulder, seriously injuring him.
Vaibhav was first admitted to a private hospital. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to Sassoon General Hospital upon confirming it was a gunshot injury. He is currently undergoing treatment there and is reported to be in stable condition.
Upon receiving the information, police teams from Mundhwa and Hadapsar rushed to the spot. They have seized the pistol and bike used in the incident and have taken Sumit Khavale into custody.
