Pune Shivers as Temperatures Drop to Season’s Lowest; Haveli and NDA Record 12°C

After a spell of moderate rainfall in Maharashtra and parts of South India, winter has made a swift comeback, with temperatures dropping sharply across the state. Favourable conditions for rain have dissipated, paving the way for cold weather, especially in North and Western Maharashtra, where the mercury has been steadily declining.

The cold weather is becoming increasingly prominent in North Maharashtra, with minimum temperatures dropping consistently over the past few days. Western Maharashtra is also experiencing a similar dip. Meteorological data reveals that minimum temperatures have fallen by as much as 4 degrees in just a day, signalling the arrival of winter across the state.

Pune Experiences a Sharp Decline

Pune residents woke up to a biting cold on Monday, November 18, as the minimum temperature fell from 18°C on Sunday to 14°C today. Some areas, such as Haveli and the NDA, recorded even lower temperatures, with the mercury dipping to 12 °C. The city felt a marked change in the weather, and many Punekars felt the harshness of the cold snap.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that the cold wave is likely to intensify over the next 24 hours, especially in Western Maharashtra, including Pune. An increase in foggy conditions is also anticipated. The Haveli and NDA areas recorded the lowest temperatures of the season at 12°C.
