Pune: There are differences within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) whether the Chief Minister’s face should be announced before or after the assembly elections. In this backdrop, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule has made a statement about how the State’s Chief Minister should be.

She was speaking to the media on her visit to the city. Banners have been raised in the Baramati area proclaiming Supriya Sule as the future Chief Minister and Yugendra Pawar as the future MLA. Commenting on the posters, Sule said, “Nobody becomes the Chief Minister by raising banners. The people decide the CM. They hold the power to decide in a healthy democracy. Therefore, I do not give importance to banners.”

When asked if she would be ready to accept the Chief Minister’s post as the first woman to hold it, Sule said, “No post is meant for a man or a woman. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra should be self-respecting. The person should hold high the honour and dignity of the State. The person should be able to serve the people of Maharashtra. It is immaterial if the person is a man or a woman.”

When asked again if she would be ready to become the CM of the State in the near future, she avoided a direct answer and said, “I do not answer questions with ifs and buts.”
