Swargate Bus Stand

Pune: The accused in the Swargate bus stand rape case, Dattatraya Gade, is a history-sheeter. The police are investigating if Gade committed similar offences in the past. However, his family members and the lawyer have made sensational claims.

Gade’s lawyer claimed that it was not rape but a physical relationship with mutual consent. A politician supported this claim and called it an attempt to tarnish Pune’s image.

His mother and wife have now made senseless statements and questioned whether it was really a sexual assault. They claimed that the victim’s clothes were neither torn nor were there any scratches caused by nails. Thus, they supported the accused. But it does not mean that a sexual assault was not launched in their absence. However, sources said that the victim did not resist the accused.

Appeal for lodging complaints

Offences such as robbery and dacoity were registered against Gade earlier. The Swargate bus stand rape case is being thoroughly investigated. It is suspected that he committed similar offences before. The investigation is also being made if he was involved earlier in such cases. Addl CP Shailesh Balkawade has appealed to people to report to them if people had complaints against Gade.
