Pune: Those indulged in illegal activities will face strict action that their seven generations will remember: Amitesh Kumar
Pune: Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar has issued a stringent warning to all those who run illegal activities such as extorting people, using muscle power to grab land and people’s homes and those running criminal syndicates.
CP Kumar said, “Those who do not fear legal action, mint money by running illegal businesses, you may be anywhere in the city, you better give up such activities and leave the city immediately. If you are nabbed, your seven generations will remember our action.”
After assuming office last year, CP Kumar summoned leaders of criminal gangs and warned them. Now, he has warned them again during a programme in Wanawadi.
Citizens’ valuables worth over Rs 1.76 crore recovered in 80 criminal cases by nine police stations in DCP zone 5 were returned by CP Kumar on the occasion of Maharashtra Police Foundation Week.
The valuables included two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, Mobile phones, silver and gold ornaments and cash money. Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP Pravin Patil, Addl CP Arvind Chavariya, Addl CP Shailesh Balkawade, Addl CP Manoj Patil, DCP Dr Rajkumar Shinde and other senior police officials were present.
CP Kumar said, “The programme to return valuables seized by the police from criminals has been held. Other zones will follow the example of zone 5. It is the responsibility of the police to investigate offences and to control them. If citizens see anything illegal happening around them, they should call us up, police stations or dial 112. We will surely act. Trust us, even if you call more than once or twice or any number of times, we will take action in each case.”
Some citizens, who got their valuables back, expressed their feelings. Some women even broke down while expressing their gratitude. They said that they were told by their relatives and friends that they would never get their things back but the police searched for them and returned their valuables.
