Pune: Three accused individuals who injured the Assistant Police Inspector by assaulting him with a machete in the Sasane Nagar area of Hadapsar were arrested by Solapur Rural Police from Solapur.

The names of the detained accused are Nihalsingh Mannusingh Tak (age 19, a resident of Tulaja Bhavani Vasahat, Hadapsar), Rahulsingh alias Rahulya Ravindrasingh Bhond (age 20, a resident of Hadapsar), and Amarsingh Jaggarsingh Tak (age 23).

Yesterday, two bike riders were fighting in the Sasane Nagar area of Hadapsar around 4 p.m. At that time, the accused, Nihalsingh and Rahulsingh, were threatening the other bike rider with machetes in their hands.

Seeing the law and order situation, the Assistant Police Inspector, Ratnadeep Gaikwad, who was travelling from the area, tried to intervene. In his attempt to take the machete from the accused’s hand and to resolve the conflict, one of the accused threw the machete towards Gaikwad, resulting in serious injury to Gaikwad’s forehead. Following the incident, three accused skedaddled from the spot.

After that, Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Raja visited the spot, whereas Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar visited Gaikwad in the hospital and ordered police officers to track down the absconded accused. Accordingly, the team of Solapur Rural Police arrested three accused from Solapur this morning and handed them over to Pune Crime Branch Unit 5.
