Pune: Three held for possessing pistols, three pistols, four cartridges seized
Pune / Pimpri: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch has arrested three youths for illegally carrying pistols in two separate operations. Three pistols and four cartridges worth Rs 1.41 lakh have been seized from the accused. Actions were taken within the limits of the Mahalunge MIDC and Dehu Road Police Stations on Friday (July 19).
In the first case, policeman Dattatray Bansude of Crime Branch Unit 5 lodged a complaint at the Dehu Road Police Station. Aditya Ramesh Chandane (22), a resident of Tathawade, was arrested. A country-made pistol worth Rs 40,000 and two live cartridges worth Rs 200 were confiscated. The action was taken on the service road near Dehu Road Octroi Post adjacent to Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway.
The second operation was carried out by the Anti-Dacoity Squad of the Crime Branch behind Saisagar Hotel at Kuruli village in Khed taluka. Policeman Ganesh Pandharinath Sawant (27) lodged a complaint at the Mahalunge MIDC Police Station. Accordingly, a case was registered and Sushil alias Barkya Bharat Gore (20), a resident of Nigdi, Akshay Prabhakar Kanse (20), a resident of Latur, were arrested.
Two pistols worth Rs 1 lakh and two live cartridges worth Rs 1,000, and four empty cartridges were seized from the accused. This operation was conducted at around 5:50 pm on Friday. The police were investigating further.
