Pune: Two booked for cheating housing society of Rs 7.70 lakh

Pune / Pimpri: The Hinjawadi Police have booked two persons for cheating the Blue Ridge housing society of Rs 7.70 lakh by tampering with a cheque. The incident took place between 2020 and May 23, 2024.

Kiyat Jayprakash Nair (60), a resident of Hinjawadi lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station in this regard. Govind Baliram Kamble and Hansraj Bhim Kale have been booked under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC.

According to the police, the society, where complainant Nair stays, has given its maintenance work to a contractor firm – Munis. The society issued a cheque for Rs 33, 570 to its employee, accused Kamble. He tampered with the cheque, changed the amount to Rs 7.70 lakh and deposited it into the account of another accused Kale. Thus, he cheated the society. The police are investigating further.
