Pune:

In a shocking incident, two individuals were brutally assaulted for helping their friend elope with his girlfriend and marry her. The incident occurred on September 26, between midnight and the following morning, in Swapnalok Society, Handewadi, and Kumthe Nagache village, located in Khatav Taluka in Satara.

In this regard, Pratik Vasant Vibhute (age 23, a resident of Swapnalok Society, Handewadi) has lodged a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station. Accordingly, police registered a case against Rohit Mandve, Omkar Gurav, Akash Mandve, Prakash Mandve, Kavishwar Mandve, Ajay Mandve, and Chandrakant Mandve (all residing in Kumthe Nagache, Taluka Khatav, District Satara).

The plaintiff and his friend work as delivery boys. Their common friend Sumit Mane had an affair with a girl. However, the parents of the girl did not agree to their marriage. Therefore, the plaintiff and his friend decided to help their friend in their marriage. For this, they went to Satara and secretly brought the girl to Pune. After that, Sumit Mane and his girlfriend went somewhere else.

Meanwhile, the girl’s brothers and her relatives were searching for her. At midnight on September 26, they came to the plaintiff’s society and started enquiring about their sister and Sumit Mane. However, when the plaintiff and his friends said that they did not know about their whereabouts, the girl’s relatives started assaulting them with leather belts and fibre pipes.

Further, they forcefully made the plaintiff and his friend, Hrishikesh Mandve, sit in their Creta car and took them to Kumthe Nagache. They kept them in the shed of Rajmudra Ganesh Mandal in a chowk in Kumthe Nagache village and were beaten again with ropes, sticks, and aluminium wires. Realising that they did not know about their sister’s whereabouts, they allowed them to go later.

After coming to Pune, the plaintiff and his friends lodged a complaint at Loni Kalbhor police station, and the Police Sub-Inspector Nalawade is investigating further into the case.
