Pune: In a shocking incident, Ganja was found in the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) hostel. Pune is known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra and the Oxford of the East. The Chatuhshrungi Police booked two students in this connection.

Prof. Sanjaykumar Pundalikrao Kamble (46), a resident of Dapodi, lodged a complaint in this regard. An offence has been registered against Pratik Ankush Gujar (20), a resident of Pirangut, and Akash Mayank Brahmabhat (20), a resident of Baner. They were found in possession of the narcotic.

According to the police, the complainant is a professor from the SPPU. There are 14 hostels for students on the premises of the university. The two accused stay in one of the hostels in room number 83 G5. Kamble has been working as the rector since 2023. He regularly checks up on students in the hostel and their presence is noted.

Kamble received a phone call at 5 pm on Wednesday (December 4) that room number 83 smelled after Ganja. He went to the said room, along with security guard Bharat Thube. He inquired with the students, Gujar and Brahmabhat, about the presence of Ganja. However, they avoided a direct reply.
