Pune: In a shocking incident, two individuals died of electrocution after their flags came in contact with overhead high-tension wire in Vadgaon Sheri. In this regard, the Chandan Police have registered a case against four people, including the president of ‘Mim Boys Young Friend Circle’, who took out a procession of celebration of Prophet Mohammad’s birth anniversary on Sunday.

The police have registered complaints against the president of Mim Boys Young Friends Circle, Hussain Kader Sheikh (age 35, a resident of Vadgaon Sheri), the tractor driver, Vikas Achyut Kamble (a resident of Wagholi), the sound system operator, Akshay Bapu Lavand (age 28, a resident of Chandan Nagar), and Santosh Dhawaji Date (age 36, a resident of Rajguru Nagar, Khed), who put up the LED screen during the procession.

The deceased young individuals who lost their lives in this incident have been identified as Zakiria Bilal Sheikh (age 20, a resident of Vadgaon Sheri) and Abhay Waghmare (age 17, a resident of Wadeshwar Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri).

In this regard, the police constable, Pankaj Vasant Musale, has filed a complaint at Chandan Nagar police station. The incident took place at vegetable market Chowk on Anand Park Road in Vadgaon Sheri at around eleven on Sunday.

The further information about the incident is that the ‘Mim Boys Young Friend Circle’ had organised a procession on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad Paigambar’s birth anniversary in Vadgaon Sheri. At that time, Zakiria Sheikh and Abhay Waghmare were standing on the iron frame of the procession tractor, waving flags on this occasion. At that time, the steel pipe of the flag in their hands came in contact with overhead high-tension electric wire, due to which they both died of electrocution.

In this case, police have further informed that, during the procession, President Hussain Sheikh ignored the terms and conditions laid by the police and provided flags and steel pipes to youths in the procession. Apart from this, Vikas Kamble removed the platform of the tractor trolley and put up a wooden stage without permission, and Akshay Lavand created a height beyond the permissible limit by installing a sound system one above another.

Further, Santosh Date added an iron frame to the tractor and made it taller than the limit by installing an LED screen. So Abhay Waghmare climbed the iron frame and waved the flag with a steel pipe in his hand. Police said that because of these violations, two individuals climbed the top of the iron frame and ultimately lost their lives after coming in contact with the electrical wire ahead.

In this regard, Assistant Police Inspector Mane is conducting further investigations.
