Pune: Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol Visits Victim’s Home, Orders Strict Police Action in Kothrud Assault Case

After a brutal assault took place on an IT employee, Devendra Jog, in Kothrud, the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, visited Devendra Jog’s house along with his wife and checked on his well-being. At this time, Mohol warned that such instances would not be tolerated in the city again and ordered the police to take strict actions in this case.
Murlidhar Mohol wrote a Facebook post on his Facebook account, where he gave details of his visit to Devendra Jog’s house. Mohol wrote, “After spending three days in Gujarat and Delhi, I immediately reached Devendra’s house after coming to Pune. I understood the whole incident from Devendra and tried to console his parents. Devendra was viciously beaten and sustained serious injuries.”
Mohol further wrote that the accused in this case have been arrested by Pune Police, and he had ordered Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take stringent action in this case. Mohol said, “Devendra is a competent computer engineer and a very reticent and calm young man. The merciless daylight attack on such a man would not be tolerated again.”
At this time, Mohol also reprimanded Pune police on the issue of multiple reels of demonstrating criminal activities going viral on social media from Pune. He also advised Pune Police to self-evaluate on this thing.
On February 19, four individuals viciously beat up Devendra Jog at Bhelke Nagar Chowk in Kothrud around 4.30 to 4.45 p.m. Devendra Jog’s nose and legs received serious injuries in this attack. Following the attack, the Pune Police arrested Om Teerthram Jigyasu, Kiran Dhondiba Padwal, and Amol Vinayak Tapkir upon examination of CCTV footage of the incident.
Meanwhile, the First Class Magistrate S.H. Wankhede has ordered police custody for all three accused until February 24. The police have also added a clause of attempted murder against these accused in this case.
