Pune: Vasota fort tourism closed for three days
Pune: Nature lovers, climbers and trekkers prefer to visit the Vasota fort. However, it will be out of bounds for them from December 30 to January 1, said Sahyadri Tiger Project Bamnoli Forest Range Officer Vijay Bathe. A high number of tourists from Pune visit Vasota.
The Vasota fort is located in the core area of the Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary and the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve on the west side of Satara district, not far away from Pune. Therefore, it is one of the favourite destinations of Puneites. In this backdrop, the decision to ban tourists for three days has been taken to protect the ecologically sensitive area.
Boat clubs ferrying tourists to the area have been instructed to follow the order strictly. If any illegal transport is reported, action will be taken against violators, said Bathe.
