Pune: Vendor Files Complaint as Extortionist Doubles Daily Ransom; Police Arrest Accused
Pune:
A hooligan who had been taking Rs 100 as ransom every day from a vendor for over a year to keep his shop running has now doubled the amount. Therefore, the shopkeeper has filed a complaint against the accused at Chandan Nagar police station. In this regard, the police have arrested the accused.
The arrested individual has been identified as Jivan Govind Bansode (age 27, a resident of Shri Ram Society, Kharadi). This incident took place between June 2023 and June 2024 in front of the Shakti Sports near Inorbit Mall at Vadgaon Sheri.
As per the police information, the plaintiff operated a small shop named Kartik Momos in front of the Shakti sports in Vadgaon Sheri. Last year, the accused, Jivan Bansode, threatened the plaintiff to give him a daily ransom of Rs 100 to keep his shop running. Accordingly, the accused had given a total of Rs more than 25,000 to the accused in cash and online form in daily instalments of Rs 100.
However, a few days ago, Bansode suddenly increased his ransom and started demanding 200 rupees daily from the plaintiff. As this is unaffordable to the plaintiff, the plaintiff rushed to the police station and filed a complaint against Bansode. The police have arrested Bansode in this regard, and Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Mane is investigating further in this case.
