Pune: Verification Cell Seizes Over Rs 1.5 Crore in Gold and Silver During Vehicle Check in Baner

In a significant action, a verification cell set up near Rajiv Gandhi Bridge today seized gold and silver worth Rs 1 crore 62 lakh from a vehicle. The seized gold and silver are being jointly verified by the Income Tax Department and the GST Department.
On Saturday morning, the police stopped the car bearing number MH 43 BK 5806 near the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge. After the inquiry with vehicle driver Yogesh Kumar Parmar, the police found the parcels of 4 kg 479 grams of silver and 2 kg 511 grams of gold worth Rs 1 crore 57 lakh 96 thousand 124 inside the car.
After that, the police team then informed the Income Tax Department and GST Department, and this vehicle was brought to Chaturshringi Police Station. Currently, the car and the parcels are being verified by the Income Tax Department and GST Department.
According to preliminary information, these gold and silver have been ordered by various jewellers in the city. It is to be delivered to Pune, Kolhapur, Ahilyanagar, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar through courier. Further action is being taken at Chaturshringi police station.
