Pune: Wakad Doctor Booked for Rs 1.37 Crore Fraud After Failing to Honour Hospital Partnership Promise
Pune :
The Wakad police have registered a case against a doctor for allegedly defrauding a senior citizen of Rs 1.37 crore by falsely promising him a 50% partnership in a hospital.
The doctor, identified as Dr. Abhinav Khare, reportedly took the money in multiple instalments but never fulfilled his commitment. The accused also allegedly shut down the hospital and sold off its medical equipment without returning the invested amount to the senior citizen.
In this regard, the complainant, a 68-year-old retired individual from Balewadi, approached the police in this case after realising that he had been deceived by the accused doctor.
According to the information, the incident took place between June 18, 2021, and December 18, 2024. The senior citizen had been visiting Dr. Khare for asthma treatment, during which the doctor learnt about his financial background, including his pension savings.
Over time, Dr. Khare allegedly gained the complainant’s trust and lured him with the promise of lucrative returns through a partnership in Spandan Multi-Speciality Hospital, located at Bhoir Plaza, Dange Chowk, Thergaon. On this pretext, the doctor allegedly convinced the complainant and his wife to invest a total of Rs 1.37 crore. However, instead of honouring his commitment, he shut down the hospital and disposed of hospital’s assets, leaving the complainant at a financial loss.
Following the complaint, the Wakad police registered a case against Dr. Khare under relevant sections of cheating and financial fraud. Assistant Police Inspector Pawar is conducting further investigation into the case.
