The Warje Malwadi Police finally succeeded in arresting a recidivist accused from Lonavala who has multiple charges registered against him. The recidivist accused has been identified as Abhijit, alias Chokhya Tukaram Yelwande (age 24, a resident of Jadhav Chawl, opposite Kakade Palace, Karve Nagar). After his arrest, Yelwande was sent to Nashik Jail.

As per the police information, Abhijit Yelwande and his accomplices had opened fire on Ravindra Tagunde on June 5, 2021, with the intention of killing him. Yelwande and his three accomplices were arrested in this crime, and a case was registered against them. Subsequently, Yelwande was released on bail on November 21, 2023.

However, soon after coming out of jail, police registered another non-bailable case against him for his involvement in the crime. After that, Police Sub-Inspector Salunkhe, Police Amaldar Khilari and Talekar of Warje Malwadi Police Station prepared a tadipar proposal of Yelwande and submitted it to Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam.

In the report, police stated that Yelwande had become a dangerous person, and his activities were repeatedly causing trouble to the residents in the Karve Nagar area. After verifying the proposal, Sambhaji Kadam ordered to tadipar him from Pune district for 2 years on August 28, 2024. However, as he entered Pune city without permission even during the tadipar period, a case was registered against him at Warje Malwadi Police Station.

After that, a proposal was prepared for his detention and submitted to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. The police commissioner then ordered his detention at Nashik Central Jail for one year on December 4, 2024. However, he had absconded since then.

After that, Senior Police Inspector Vishvajeet Kaingade formed a team under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narle. A plan was then prepared to arrest Yelwande by keeping a watch on his movements. A few days ago, police learnt that he was residing in the Lonavala area by changing his address. Accordingly, Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narle, Police Amaldar Yogesh Wagh and Sharad Pol went to Lonavala and searched him for the whole day on January 9 and 10 and arrested him. He was sent to Nashik Jail.

This action was taken by the team of Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narle, Police Sub-Inspector Salunkhe, Police Amaldar Yogesh Wagh, Sharad Pol, Sagar Kumbhar, Prashant Chavan, Riyaz Sheikh, Vijay Khilari, and Kiran Talekar under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Pravin Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam, Assistant Police Commissioner Bhausaheb Pathare, Senior Police Inspector Vishvajeet Kaingade of Warje Malwadi Police Station, and Police Inspector Crime Nilesh Badakh.
