Pune: An engineer woman is bed-ridden for the past two years due to negligence during a weight-reduction surgery. Two doctors have been booked by the Deccan Gymkhana Police in this regard.

Her 36-year-old husband lodged a complaint at the police station. On the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against Dr Prashant Yadav, a resident of Gurugram, and Dr Swapnil Nage, a resident of Narhe.

According to the police, the complainant’s wife was working as a quality engineer in a company in Kharadi. She took details about a weight loss programme from Designer Clinic in Erandwane. The receptionist told her that a liposuction surgery would help her to reduce weight.

On October 16, 2022, she underwent the surgery, in which 4.5 litres of fat was removed from her body. However, she was admitted to a private clinic after the surgery as her condition turned critical. She took treatment for various health complications for three months. However, there was no letup in her condition. Hence, she was shifted home. Since then she has been bed-ridden and cannot even talk. She only opens and closes her eyelids, stated her husband in the complaint.

Sr PI Nimbalkar is investigating further.
