Pune: Youth arrested for raping woman after befriending her on dating app
Pune: A youth has been arrested for raping a divorcee after befriending her through Tinder, a dating app. He took her to various places and raped her. When she wanted to end their relationship, he threatened to kill her and her son. The incident took place frequently between December 3, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
The 35-year-old woman lodged a complaint at the Yerwada Police Station on Thursday (June 4). A case has been registered against Nileshbahi Panjabhai Kalsariya (30), a resident of Viman Nagar, under sections 376, 376(1), 376/2/N/, 506 of the IPC.
According to the police, the victim is a divorcee and she lives in Wanawadi, along with her 11-year-old son. She is employed and works from home. The complainant and the accused got to know each other on the Tinder dating app in November 2023. They shared each other’s mobile phone numbers. While chatting, the accused came to meet the victim at her home. He had identified himself as Arjun. He offered to take her on a long drive and brought her to Mumbai. On their return, he forced her to drink beer. Then he took her to a hotel after arriving in Pune and forcefully established a physical relationship with her.
Later, he took her to different places and raped her. Meanwhile, the complainant came to know that he had relations with other women also. This led to a quarrel between them. He abused and beat her up. He also threatened to kill her. She had lodged a complaint with the police.
The accused then threatened to kill her and her son. The police registered a case and arrested the accused.
