Puneites will have to wait for Swargate-Shivajinagar Metro line
Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to inaugurate the underground extended Metro line from Shivajinagar District Court to Swargate. However, the inauguration and the rally at the SP College ground have been cancelled due to heavy rains. MahaMetro has announced that the extended line will not be made operative today.
Consequently, the Puneites will have to wait for some more days for the underground route to become operative. Meanwhile, changes announced in the schedule of other Metro routes due to the inauguration of this route have also been cancelled. Now, citizens have criticised MahaMetro saying whether Pune Metro is meant for common passengers or for the Prime Minister’s inauguration. They have demanded that the inauguration should be done by a passenger as per the schedule.
Citizens criticise MahaMetro
A Metro passenger said, “Hon. PM Narendra Modi is the Pradhan Sevak (head servant) and the original purpose of his post is to serve Indians. He promised this to India in 2014. I am sure the Puneites will experience this today. The Shivajinagar to Swargate route of Pune Metro will definitely be thrown open to the Puneites. If the PM is unable to visit Pune personally, he could show the green flag from Delhi. A senior citizen can inaugurate the route. The project is being built with public money. Why do we need big events to dedicate it to the people?”
Another metro passenger said, “I regularly travel on Shivajinagar to Pimpri-Chinchwad Metro route. After the inauguration of the extended section up to Swargate, I will save time on travel. We expected that it would open today. Though the official inauguration has been postponed due to rains, the route should start operating immediately.”
