Pune’s Cherished Winter Tradition ! Ganpati at Sarasbaug Dressed in Woollen Sweater and Cap
Pune: As winter sets in, the beloved Ganpati idol at Sarasbaug’s iconic lake temple is adorned with a woollen sweater and cap, a tradition that has been followed for many years. This year too, Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan dressed the deity in warm woollens as temperatures dropped across the city.
Photos of the beautifully dressed Sarasbaug Ganpati have gone viral, with devotees flocking at night to catch a glimpse of Bappa in his winter attire.
Seven different coloured sweaters and caps are prepared for seven days, with the deity being dressed every night and the attire removed during the morning puja.
The Sarasbaug Ganpati temple, built nearly 240 years ago by Shrimant Sawai Madhavrao Peshwe, houses a small yet exquisite white marble idol of Lord Ganesha, attracting devotees from far and wide.
