Railway Signal System to Be Updated in Pune
Pune: Pune railway station will soon implement the latest ‘Electronic Interlocking’ signal system, with an estimated cost of around Rs 95 crore. The first phase will include constructing a separate building, with work set to begin on August 1 in the old Maldhakka premises, activating the new system.
The current RRI (Root Relay Interlocking) system is obsolete. The new technology will prevent signal system malfunctions and allow for immediate fault detection and rectification, directly impacting passenger traffic. Following the installation, the existing RRI building will be demolished. This project has been approved by the Railway Board, and construction is confirmed to start on August 1, as stated by Indu Dubey, Divisional Railway Manager, Pune.
