Rasiklal M Dhariwal Foundation’s Tree Transplantation Initiative ! Foundation President Janhavi Dhariwal Balan gives details about the Initiative, She makes an appeal to strengthen the Initiative

Pune : The R. M. Dhariwal Foundation, headquartered in Pune, has been working tirelessly for over 40 years under the visionary leadership of Shri. Rasiklal M. Dhariwal and Mrs. Shobha R. Dhariwal. With more than 50 establishments in education, healthcare, environment, and disaster relief, the foundation has made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Today, Ms. Janhavi Dhariwal Balan, President of the Foundation, is carrying this legacy forward with a powerful new mission — saving mature trees from being cut down, by transplanting them. The Foundation is implementing this initiative with the support of MSRDC, PMC and PWD.
Across India, trees are felled daily in the name of development — for roads, construction, and infrastructure projects. Each mature tree lost is a blow to our environment. But there is hope: tree transplantation gives these trees a second life.
✅ A single mature tree produces enough oxygen for 4 people every day.
✅ Each tree absorbs 10–40 kg of CO₂ annually, depending on its size and species.
✅ Mature trees, if transplanted with care, have an 80% survival rate.
So far, RMD Foundation has successfully transplanted 2,100+ mature trees in areas like Pune Ring Road, Mundhwa, Ghorpadi, and B.G. Shirke Road.
But the challenge ahead is much larger:
🚨 The upcoming 172 km Pune Ring Road Project may lead to the cutting of thousands of trees. With your support, these trees can be saved. This mammoth task is beyond the capacity of any one person or organisation. Hence, it’s an appeal to corporates and people at large to join this noble initiative.
🌱 How You Can Contribute
• Fund Tree Transplantation:
Your support will ensure that these trees are moved to safe spaces like farmland, army land, or forest land where they will be nurtured and protected. The cost of transplanting a tree, based on its age and girth is in the range of Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 40000/-.
• Adopt a Tree:
Sponsor a transplanted tree for 2 years, ensuring close to 100% survival rates with proper care.
• Offer Space for Trees:
If you have available land or premises, you can host transplanted trees and help them flourish. The inherent benefit being that one gets a 25/30/40 years matured tree from day one of transplantation.
