Reserve Bank of India to accept Rs 2,000 notes via post
Pune: The Rs 2,000 denomination currency notes have been demonetised. However, an updated directive of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has stated that Rs 2,000 denomination notes can be accepted via post by the RBI’s regional offices. Therefore, those who still possess these currency notes can get them exchanged.
The Central Government decided to demonetise the currency notes, following which people panicked. It hugely impacted social and economic life. Meanwhile, Rs 2,000 currency notes can be handed over through India Post to the RBI. Those who have such currency notes can send them through post, stated a release issued by India Post.
Process to exchange the currency note
Pune Rural Post Department Superintendent BP Erande said, “A facility has been made available at post offices to send Rs 2,000 denomination currency notes to the RBI. These notes can be sent via Speed Post by attaching a form provided at the counter. They should fill in details about the currency notes to be sent and also attach necessary documents.”
