Pimpri: The civic body and the police act immediately if a common citizen violates rules. However, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has Rs 7,55,12,000 outstanding rent dues, which it has not paid to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate was established on August 15, 2018. Prior to that, the police stations in the twin towns were managed by the Pune Police Commissionerate and the Pune Rural Police. During that period, the PCMC rented out its buildings in various city parts to the police.

The PCMC-run Mahatma Phule Municipal School’s building in Premlok Park, Chinchwad was given to the Police Commissionerate. The late Ankush Borhade Schools’ building and adjoining open space was also given for the police headquarters. The women’s development centre building in Thergaon was also handed over. For zone 3 also, space was given. Thus, the PCMC has rented 22 buildings to the police within its jurisdiction.
