Security Guard’s Wife Succumbs to Injuries After Shooting and Stone Pelting Incident in Theur

The security guard’s wife was injured in the shooting and stone-pelting incident that took place in Theur on Friday evening when the security guard confronted and dispersed away people who were urinating in the open in front of the plotting. Unfortunately, the woman injured in the incident died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The deceased woman has been identified as Sheetal Akshay Chavan (age 29, a resident of Chavan Vasti, Theur). After Sheetal passed away on Wednesday, her dead body was sent to Sassoon Hospital for an autopsy. At that time, heavy police security was kept at Sassoon Hospital.

In this case, Loni Kalbhor police have arrested three individuals, namely, Satish Barikrao Lokhande (age 31), Ajay Dashrath Mundhe (age 26), and Bhanudas Dattatray Shelar (age 32), all residents of Chimbli Phata, Taluka Khed, and seized a country-made pistol from them.

After arrest, when all the accused were presented before the court, the court remanded them in police custody for four days. The police informed that the section of the murder has been added against these accused.

Police informed that the plotting of an open space is being done near Jai Malhar Hotel in the Theur area on the Pune-Solapur highway, where Akshay Chavan is working as a security guard. He also lives there with his wife. On Friday night, around 8:15 pm, the accused, who came in a car, were urinating in an open space in front of the hotel. At that time, Akshay Chavan confronted and ordered them to leave.

This led to an argument between them. In the subsequent brawl, one of the accused, Ajay Mundhe, fired a pistol in the air and pelted stones at Akshay Chavan. However, in this, Sheetal Chavan was injured after being hit by stones. After the incident, the accused fled from the scene in their car.

When the police learnt about the incident, they set up a blockade on Theur Kesnand Road and arrested the three accused. The police have seized the pistol, cartridges, and the Fortuner car from them.
