Sending AB form by chopper may cost Shiv Sena (BT) dearly
Nashik: The last date of filing nominations for the State Assembly elections was October 29. There was rebellion in the ruling and opposition camps. The Maha Yuti tried to stem rebellion at many places till the last moment.
Aspirants had to hurry up to file nominations. During this period, the Shiv Sena (BT) sent its AB forms to two of its candidates in Nashik. An apparent Model Code of Conduct violation has invited an inquiry. The Shiv Sena’s (BT) efforts to send its AB forms by a helicopter is likely to backfire.
The State Chief Returning Officer has launched a probe into the incident. It seems that the party is likely to land in trouble even before the voting takes place.
According to the details received, the District Administration has launched an inquiry into the Shiv Sena’s (BT) sending of the AB forms by chopper after the Election Commission asked the District Administration to verify the incident. The administration contacted the Air Traffic Control seeking details about the landing of the helicopter in Nashik.
Details such as who brought the AB forms; how many people were there in the chopper and it was procured for whom. Action will be taken after the EC receives a report.
The AB forms were handed over to the candidates concerned a few hours before the deadline on October 29. It was learnt that the forms were given to Dhanraj Mahale (Dindori) and Rajshree Ahirrao (Devalali) of the Shiv Sena (BT).
