Kolhapur: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar is on a Kolhapur tour in preparation for the State Assembly elections. Many leaders from rival parties are willing to join the NCP (SP). BJP leader Samarjitsinh Ghatge from Kagal joined the NCP (SP) in the presence of Sharad Pawar.

Meanwhile, there have been discussions about the Chief Ministerial face from the MVA. Sharad Pawar commented on the issue during an interaction with the media on Wednesday (September 4). Replying to a question, Pawar indicated how the formula of naming the CM could be decided.

He said, “There is no point in insisting on the CM face at this moment. The MVA constituents will collectively decide on the issue. It will be decided on the basis of seats a party wins. The issue is not important at this moment. Currently, the MVA is likely to get a majority of seats. The atmosphere in the State is conducive for the MVA. It is important to give a stable government if people elect a majority of MVA MLAs. Our motto is to provide a stable government.”

He gave an example from 1977. Pawar said, “The General Election was held in the country after the Emergency. Jayaprakash Narayan appealed to all opposition parties to unite. They united, there was no single face during the polls. After the elections, Morarji Desai’s name was suggested for the PM’s post. Till then, his name was nowhere. The decision was made after getting a majority in the polls.”

Meanwhile, there are many aspirants for the CM’s post in the MVA. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded that the name of the CM’s face should be announced. Uddhav Thackeray himself is an aspirant. Sanajy Raut has commented on this issue many times. Nana Patole and Balasaheb Thorat are interested in the Congress. From the NCP (SP), Jayant Patil and Supriya Sule are two major contenders for the post. However, Sharad Pawar said that the CM will be decided only after the elections.
