Solapur: MP Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil has organised a function to mark the 84th birthday of former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde in Akluj on Sunday (September 29).

Many top leaders in the State, including NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat, Vijaysinh Mohite Patil, PWP General Secretary Jayant Patil, NCP (SP) State President Jayant Patil and others, will attend the function.

A felicitation of all MPs in the State by Sharad Pawar will be held during the function. It will be interesting to see how many MPs from the Maha Yuti would be present for the programme.

Dhairyasheel Mohit Patil expressed the confidence that all newly elected MPs, except ministers, will attend the function. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) dealt a big blow to the Maha Yuti in the Lok Sabha elections. In this backdrop, it remains to be seen if MPs from the ruling combine turn up for the felicitation.

The programme assumes significance as PWP leader Jayant Patil recently predicted that there would be a big change at the Centre soon. It will be clear what stand the Maha Yuti MPs would take.

Any guesses? What will happen after the function?

The mega gathering will be held at the Vijaysinh Mohite Patil Krida Sankul in Akluj. A show of strength by Mohite Patil will be staged. “Maharashtra witnessed the miracle of a new equation formed before the Lok Sabha elections. The State will see what happens after tomorrow’s function,” said Dhairyasheel Mohite Patil.

Many aspirants willing to contest from the MVA

He said, “Not only from Madha and Pandharpur but many aspirants are willing to contest from all other Assembly segments. Sharad Pawar, Sushilkumar Shinde, Vijaysinh Mohite Patil and Uddhav Thackeray will choose candidates from among these aspirants. The seat-sharing talks of the MVA will begin after October 1. All the seats will be finalised later.”
