Shiv Sena (BT) claims seats contested by Shiv Sena (UBT) in last civic polls in Pune
Pune: The Shiv Sena (BT) has announced that the party will contest 35-40 seats in the civic elections. The seats contested by the undivided party belong to the Eknath Shinde-led faction. Thus, the Shiv Sena (BT) candidates will contest from these seats. This was revealed by the party’s City Unit President Nana Bhangire on Thursday (January 2).
He addressed a press meet. His party has claimed even those seats, which were won by the party corporator, who later joined the BJP. This is likely to become a triggering point between the BJP and the Shiv Sena (BT).
The Eknath Shinde-led faction held a press conference on Thursday (January 2) and details were given about their preparations for the civic polls. The party’s district Joint Contact Head Ajay Bhosale and women office-bearers were present.
Bhangire said, “Meetings are being held by our party in all wards in the city to prepare for the civic elections. Voter registration and contact drives are underway. We will contest 35-40 seats, which the Shiv Sena contested in the 2017 civic polls. We made concessions to other Maha Yuti partners during the seat-sharing in the Lok Sabha and State elections.
“We won on the bow and arrow symbol and we want all those seats. The same formula will be used for the civic polls. We will accept the decision of the party leadership. Many from the Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT), the MNS and Maha Yuti are eager to join our party.”
