Shocking! Pune Youth Loses Rs 6,500 in Tyre Puncture Scam – Here’s What You Need to Know About This Scam

Every day, scammers planned new and innovative scams to trick common people and earn money from them. Recently, a new kind of tyre puncture scam has come to light in Koregaon Park, where a young man has fallen victim to this scam and lost a whopping 6500 rupees.
This is just a representative example, and many such cases are increasing in Pune. Considering the soaring number of such instances, Pune police have urged caution to Punekars and appealed to them to be careful.
As per the information, a young man from Pune was going with his family to Kalyani Nagar via Ghorpadi. At that time, he noticed that his car’s tyre had low pressure. So, to avoid any further trouble, he went to a puncture repair shop located some distance away and got the puncture repaired.
Notably, when the individual approached the nearer puncture repair shop, the mechanic checked the tyre and advised him to use liquid sealant to repair the tyre as it had more than one puncture. He then did the same procedure for all four tyres in spite of having only one tyre punctured and charged a total of Rs 6,500 for four liquid sealant bottles, considering the price of one liquid sealant bottle as Rs 1599.
After the entire incident, the victim realised that the mechanic falsely suggested him to use this liquid sealant for the other three tyres as well, even though he didn’t need it for tyres.
Police have advised people to take the following precaution in such cases:
- If your car or any other vehicle gets a puncture, don’t get confused and check yourself what exactly happened. You should check it yourself; count how many punctures there are.
- For this, stop your vehicle at a trusted puncture repair shop and make sure that the work is done properly.
- Don’t do extra work on the car in a hurry just to go somewhere urgently.
- Also, ask how much money will be spent on any work before starting it, so that you don’t have to pay extra money later after the work is done.
