Sujay Vikhe Patil’s statement causes controversy
Ahmednagar: A tussle between the two political families – The Vikhes and the Thorats – is underway in Sangamner of the district. The Maha Yuti has still not announced its candidate from the constituency. Still, the rivalry between the two families has peaked. Their supporters are also clashing.
Former MP Sujay Vikhe Patil delivered a virulent speech at a gathering in Sangamner taluka on Sunday (October 27). It was applauded a lot by his supporters. Moreover, he openly said that he would violate the Model Code of Conduct.
A war of words continued between Sujay Vikhe Patil and his rival Jayashree Thorat, the daughter of senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat. Their supporters also clashed verbally.
Sujay Vikhe Patil said, “You level allegations against us. Do not think that tolerance is our weakness. I am violating the Model Code of Conduct from this moment. Mind it! If you criticise Radhkrishna Vikhe Patil beyond a certain point, I warn you that you will be buried alive.”
‘You don’t deserve to be elected as gram panchayat members’
He said, “Those who don’t even deserve to be elected as gram panchayat members are calling names. Why do you tell the people that you are cultured? If you want to speak, then speak about development. You must explain what you want to do for Sangamner. But they have nothing to say.
“Don’t be afraid of anyone. It is a secret ballot. They will approach you and appease you but do not compromise with the future of your children. No one will save you. You will live in drought and terror forever. I do not expect anyone to indulge in arson for me.”
‘If I am finished…’
Sujay Vikhe Patil said, “Now it is up to you. I have done what needs to be done. They have been continuously trying to finish me off from within and outside the party. Because they know if Sujay Vikhe Patil is finished off, the poor will lose hope, they will lose their voice. The day I am defeated, development will stop.”
He paused for a while as he broke down. He drank water and started speaking again.
