In a shocking revelation, the accused, who attempted to murder a husband and wife by stabbing them with a machete after being confronted while urinating in an open space, had previously created terror by brandishing machetes in the Rajiv Gandhi Vasahat in Vitthalwadi on Sinhagad Road. In this regard, the police have arrested five individuals, including two minors.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohan Maruti Gore (age 20, a resident of Sai Nagar, Hingane), Karan Ramchandra Barge (age 19, a resident of Hingane), and Sahil Raju Pathan (age 19, a resident of Sai Nagar, Hingane). In this regard, Suraj Ramesh Lokhande (age 36, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Vasahat, Vitthalwadi, Sinhagad Road) had filed a complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station.

Senior Inspector Dilip Daingade of Sinhagad Road Police Station revealed that the accused had been spreading fear in the Vitthalwadi area by roaming around with machetes. Recently, they launched a brutal attack on a couple after they were confronted for urinating in an open space in Dhayari. The inspector said that though the accused are currently under arrest for creating terror in the locality by carrying weapons, the police are planning to charge them separately for attempted murder.

According to police information, on Friday at 7:45 p.m., the complainant Suraj Lokhande was talking with his friends—Umesh Manohar Dakhale, Ravi Shivaji Shinde, and Ravi Nana Shinde—when a courier delivery boy arrived. As they asked the courier to take his vehicle out of the road, a gang of five individuals arrived there on two bikes. Without warning, one of them brandished a machete, ready to attack Lokhande.

However, at that time, another gang member intervened, stating that Lokhande was not their intended target. They then turned their attention to his friend but were again stopped by the same member, who clarified that even he was not the person they were looking for. The gang soon realised that none of the men were their actual targets.

Sensing the imminent danger, the frightened courier boy abandoned his bike on the spot and fled the scene. The accused, unfazed by the chaos, waved their machetes in the air and created terror in the area, shouting, “There is only one don of the Sinhagad Road area, and that is Niraj Dhavale A.D. Bhai!” After creating terror in the area by brandishing weapons, the accused went from the area.

Later, the same gang targeted a husband and wife in Dhayari after the couple objected to them urinating in public. Enraged by the confrontation, the accused launched a violent machete attack on the couple, attempting to kill them. Acting in this case, the Sinhagad Road police tracked down and arrested the accused, using CCTV footage. After that, the accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody until March 11.

Police have confirmed that all three adults arrested are notorious criminals with a history of violence. They have previous cases registered against them, including illegal possession of weapons and other serious offences. The police sub-inspector, Amol Malusare, is investigating the case further.
