Katraj Chowk Flyover

Pune: Katraj Chowk is an important crossroad to travel towards Pune, Mumbai and other cities. Therefore, the chowk is always teeming with traffic. Moreover, Katraj-Kondhwa is another important bypass that connects this chowk to eastern suburbs.

A flyover is currently being built at the chowk. However, the segmental launching work was stalled due to heavy traffic and no alternative route to divert traffic. Diversion was attempted earlier but failed.

Now, an alternative diversion plan is ready and the work will resume on December 3. Therefore, major traffic diversions will be affected at Katraj Chowk. They are as follows:

A) Heavy vehicles such as dumpers, ready concrete mixers, heavy motor vehicles, goods transport vehicles, trailers, containers and multi-axle vehicles will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk.

  1. Traffic from Satara to old Katraj Tunnel will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Shindewadi Bridge
  2. Traffic from Satara through new Katraj tunnel will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Navale Bridge
  3. Traffic from Mumbai via Warje will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Navale Bridge
  4. Traffic from Solapur via Hadapsar, Mantarwadi will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Mantarwadi Chowk
  5. Traffic from Saswad via Hadapsar, Mantarwadi will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Mantarwadi Chowk

  7. Traffic from Market Yard, Gangadham, Bibwewadi will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Iskcon Mandir chowk

B) Following changes for ST and private passenger buses:

  1. ST and private buses from Mumbai via Warje will have ‘no entry’ to Katraj Chowk at Navale Bridge
  2. ST and private buses from Satara to Swargate will be diverted from under Navale Bridge and will take a right turn via Katraj to Swargate. (This route should be used to avoid traffic congestion on Sinhagad Road)
