Tragic Accident on Pune-Pandharpur Palkhi Highway: 20-Year-Old Woman Dies and Two Injured After Motorcycle Fell Into Pothole

In a disheartening incident, a 20-year-old young woman died on the spot after her motorcycle fell into a pothole in the Nira Lonand area on the Pune-Pandharpur Palkhi highway. Along with her, two other individuals were also seriously injured in the accident.
The young woman who died in the accident has been identified as Ankita Anil Dhaygude (age 20). While the driver, Vishal Daulat Dhaygude (age 27), and Sanika Vilas Dhaygude (age 18) are both seriously injured.
As per the information, three individuals were going on their motorbike on Monday at around 7:30 a.m. While they were travelling from the Manik Sona Petrol Pump, their two-wheeler fell into the pothole. In this, Ankita Dhaygude died on the spot, whereas Vishal Dhaygude and Sanika Dhaygude were seriously injured.
It is learnt that water line repair work by the Lonand Nagar Panchayat was underway on the road between Lonand and Neera on the Palkhi Highway. Local residents suspect that the absence of barricades at the site by the contractor may have prevented the driver from noticing the pothole, leading to the fatal accident.
After this accident, the villagers of Balu Patlachi Wadi blocked the road at Rajmata Ahilyadevi Chowk in Lonand for about half an hour, demanding registration of a case and strict action against the culprits. At that time, Assistant Police Inspector Sushil Bhosale of Lonand Police Station persuaded the villagers and called them to Lonand Police Station.
It is learnt that the work of registering a case against the concerned accused in this regard at Lonand Police Station was going on till late at night.
