Two Chain Snatching Incidents Reported in Pune: Thieves Target Women in Tulshibaug and Katraj
Pune: In two daring chain-snatching incidents reported on Wednesday and Thursday, thieves targeted women in crowded and public areas of Pune, making away with gold ornaments worth over Rs 1.3 lakh.
In the first case, a woman from Nashik fell victim to a chain-snatching while shopping in the Tulshibaug area. As per the information, a woman was shopping in Tulshibaug around 5:45 PM on Wednesday. The woman was purchasing goods from a vendor amidst a crowd when an unidentified thief snatched her gold chain worth Rs 61,000 and vanished into the busy marketplace.
In this regard, the woman filed a complaint at the Vishrambaug police station. Accordingly, Vishrambaug police have registered a case, and Police Officer Jadhav is leading the investigation into the incident.
A similar incident was reported in the Rajas Society area of Katraj on Thursday morning. Around 6:30 a.m., a woman was standing near the entrance of the society after dropping her daughter off at school. As she waited for a student transport vehicle, two thieves approached her on a bike and snatched her gold mangalsutra valued at Rs 70,000 before speeding away.
In this regard, the woman filed a complaint at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, where Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi is probing the case.
