Two Women Complained Theft of Ornaments Worth Rs 13.59 Lakh from Abhyudaya Bank’s Locker; Bank Cited No Record in Bank’s Registrar

An astonishing incident has taken place at the Nana Peth branch of Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank, where gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 13 lakh 59 thousand 401 kept in a bank’s lockers have been stolen. This incident has shocked everyone, including the owner of the locker and bank staff, as there is no record in the bank register that their locker was opened during this period.
This incident took place at the Nana Peth branch of Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank between March 30 and May 15, 2024. In this regard, a 65-year-old woman living in Bibvewadi has lodged a complaint at Samarth Police Station.
According to the information given by the police, the complainant and his sister-in-law have the locker in their name at the Nana Peth branch of Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank. As per the complaint, they kept their gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 13,59,401 in the bank’s locker.
A few days ago they had first complained to the bank that the ornaments in the locker were stolen. However, there was no record in the bank’s register that their locker was opened during this period. This incident has raised many questions as to whether there were really any ornaments in the locker. and if so, then who stole these ornaments?
Upon receiving information about this incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nutan Pawar, and Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gitte visited Abhyudaya Bank and took information about the incident. Police Sub-Inspector J.R. Phadtare is investigating further in this case.
