Mumbai: The State Assembly elections are approaching. The Maha Yuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are the two major rival alliances. The MVA is holding seat-sharing talks. It is upbeat after its success in the Lok Sabha elections.

Political activity has increased ahead of the polls. Meetings are being conducted. A new seat-sharing formula is emerging in the MVA. The Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT) are likely to contest 100 seats each.

The NCP (SP) will have 84 seats while other smaller partners will get the remaining four seats. Congress leaders were demanding that they should have a major share of the seats as they were the national party.

On the other hand, the Shiv Sena (UBT) was also insisting that they should get more seats. The NCP (SP) was of the view that they compromised with less number of seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, they should get more seats now. Thus, seat-sharing talks were not progressing. But the three alliance partners have now agreed on the new formula.
