Baramati: Workers belonging to rival parties clashed at poll centres at some villages in the Baramati Assembly constituency. MVA candidate Yugendra Pawar’s mother Sharmila Pawar said, “Slips bearing the clock symbol were distributed and voters were threatened.” Allegations and counter-allegations were made in political circles over the issue.

Sharmila Pawar visited some voting centres when she alleged that the rival camp threatened voters. She also alleged that the voter slips distributed to citizens bore the clock symbol. NCP (AP) office-bearers threatened workers.

Sharmila Pawar said, “Voters are carrying slips, on which a stamp is put and they are let in. I visited other polling booths where our workers were threatened. They were issued death threats. CCTV footage of the voting centres should be checked.”

Refuting Sharmila Pawar’s allegations, Ajit Pawar said, “Sharmila Pawar is levelling false allegations. If any such incident took place at polling centres, it should have been recorded in CCTV cameras, which would be checked by poll officials. I have seen so many elections. But my workers have never done such a thing. They will never behave in that manner.”
