Nagphani Kada or Duke’s Nose is among the toughest of the cliffs in Maharashtra for climbers. It is located in the forest near Lonavala in Pune district. A climb on the precipice without enough experience and safe climbing equipment is next to impossible.
However, the young mountaineers accomplished the adventure for a prestigious place for their leaders having a vision for development. Maval-based mountaineers Narayan Malpote, Nitin Pingale, Vishal Gopale, Ajit Gopale and Pandurang Jachak took part in the climb.
There are many such tough cliffs in the Sahyadri ranges, which pose a challenge to experienced climbers, who successfully summit them by fighting against nature’s odds. The adventurers from Maval climbed the 800-ft cliff, Nagphani Kada, facing gusty wind and raised the 30-ft banner successfully.
