Lonavala: The Lonavala police have registered cases against 26 tourists who risked their lives and caused disturbances near the waterfall in the Sahara Bridge area. Recently, five family members were swept away in the Bhushi Dam area, prompting stricter enforcement of safety measures. Tourists from various parts of the state, including Pune and Mumbai, often visit for Varsha Vihar (monsoon tourism) and engage in risky behavior, such as taking photographs in dangerous areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the tragic incident, Collector Suhas Diwase instructed the police to take action against tourists endangering their lives. Prohibitory orders were imposed on tourist spots in the district, including Lonavala and Khandala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday, the Lonavala police registered cases against 26 tourists from four different groups who were causing disturbances in the waterfall area near Sahara Bridge, in violation of these orders. The cases were filed under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023 for violating the restraining order. The tourists involved came from Mumbai, Maval, Mulshi, Shikrapur, Shirur, Chakan, Khed, and Pune city.
