Pune: Deluge was witnessed in the last week of July and the first week of August in the district, including Pune. A heavy discharge was being made from the dam into the Mutha river causing floods in the low-lying areas along the banks. Household items, belongings, vehicles were damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Panchnamas of losses in the floods have been completed. The District Collectorate sent a report to the State Government demanding over Rs 8.23 crore. Floods again took place in the first week of August when water was released into the river. Over 1,906 citizens from 537 families were shifted to safe places from areas such as Sinhagad Road, Dhole Patil Road, Yerwada, Ahmednagar Road, Shivajinagar-Ghole Road, Warje-Karvenagar, Kasba-Vishrambaug Wada and Aundh-Baner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As many as 1,365 citizens from 305 families were shifted to safer places in Pimpri-Chinchwad. A youth, identified as Sagar Gher (35), a resident of Khed, died due to drowning, stated the report submitted by the District Administration. Panchanamas have started again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase said, \u201cHousing societies along the Mutha river were inundated following a heavy water discharge from the dams. Panchanamas of losses have been conducted in the first stage. The remaining panchnamas are being done. It has come to the fore that vehicles belonging to many citizens, particularly from Pune, have been damaged. The Chief Minister visited flood-affected areas. Citizens brought this fact to his notice. Citizens concerned will be given a copy of panchnama. It can be attached with the claim form to be sent to insurance companies.
