Pune: Notorious moneylender Nanasaheb Gaikwad and his gang was booked thrice under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999. Files related to offences lodged by the daughter-in-law of Nanasaheb Gaikwad against him, his son Ganesh Gaikwad and other family members have been stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Suyog Suresh Deshmukh (32), Sayajirao Gaikwad Group, Aundh, lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station. The incident took place between 3 pm and 5.20 pm on Sunday at the Sayajirao Gaikwad Group office in NSG IT Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, the complainant is involved in housekeeping work in Sayajirao Gaikwad Group. The office is in the possession of Nanasaheb Gaikwad\u2019s daughter-in-law. She had initially lodged a domestic violence complaint against her husband Ganesh Nanasaheb Gaikwad and other family members. Later, Gaikwad\u2019s misdeeds were revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nanasaheb Gaikwad, Ganesh Gaikwad and their accomplices were involved in offences in the past 10 years such as attempt to murder, dacoity, issuing life threats, forgery for cheating, illegal possession of arms and terrorising people, etc. The gang was booked for many offences. But Nanasaheb Gaikwad was booked under the MCOCA three times. This was the first time that three members of a family were booked thrice under the MCOCA. This was done to curb his economic offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His daughter-in-law had kept the files related to offences filed against her father-in-law, husband and other members of the family. These files, along with Rs 95,000 cash were stolen from the office on Sunday. It is suspected that the theft is an attempt to destroy the evidence against the Gaikwad family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
