Pune: Many police officials, including DCP Bhagyashree Navtake, have been booked after the main accused in the Bhaichand Hirachand Raisoni (BHR) Cooperative Bank fraud, Sunil Zanwar, submitted an application to the State Home Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An offence was registered at the Bund Garden Police Station following a directive by the Home Department. It named many police officials involved in raids in Jalgaon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zanwar was arrested for buying a property at a cheaper rate and for forging documents in the fraud case. The Supreme Court granted him bail in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two cases were registered in Shikrapur and Pune in the fraud. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) was investigating the case. Navtake was heading the EOW then. Raids were conducted at 10 places under her leadership in Jalgaon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sunil Zanwar and others had pointed out many anomalies during the raids. Another person paid the food bill of the police officers and personnel. Private cars were allegedly used while conducting the raids. Zanwar alleged that he was framed out of political reasons. The then NCP leader Eknath Khadse had alleged that Zanwar was a close aide of the then minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan. The two leaders had levelled allegations and counter-allegations against each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Complainant Sunil Zanwar said, \u201cA false case was registered against me. Though my son was not involved in the case, he was lodged in custody for six months. Three FIRs were registered at a time. False complaints were lodged. Pages of government records were changed. I exposed all such misdeeds and provided all details, along with evidence, to the Home Department.
