Pune: Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil on Tuesday (September 3) sought discharge and disposal of a cheating case against him before the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A case of cheating and misappropriation was registered against Jarange, Arjun Prasad Jadhav and Datta Bahir, all residents of Jalna district, for not paying the promised money to a theatre producer for arranging shows at the Kothrud Police Station. Dhananjay Ghorpade lodged a complaint in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jarange and two other accused were present during the hearing of the case on Tuesday. Adv Sunil Kadam has moved an application before the court seeking its permission to assist Public Prosecutor Nilima Ithape and to argue on behalf of the original complainant. The application was moved by the complainant\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adv Harshad Nimbalkar, Adv Santosh Khamkar and Adv Shivam Nimbalkar presented Jarange Patil\u2019s side. Nimbalkar and Khamkar said, \u201cThere was no concrete proof against Jarange. He had no intention to cheat. He has not signed the contract regarding staging of the plays. Sections invoked in the case qualify for a compromise. Therefore, the case should be disposed of after a compromise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosecution to file say on compromise<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hearing was conducted before JFMC AC Birajdar. He said, \u201cA compromise in such cases is possible. Therefore, the complainant and the accused should consider it. If there is unanimity over a compromise, the case would be transferred to a mediator court. It would be the collective responsibility of the three accused to fulfill the compromise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court instructed the prosecution to file its say over a compromise. The prosecution sought time for the same. The next hearing is scheduled for September 24.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
