Pune: The City Unit of the BJP is treading cautiously for PM Narednra Modi\u2019s visit to the city on Thursday (September 26) after it witnessed thin crowds at a public meeting addressed by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. MPs, MLAs and main city party office-bearers have been told to mobilise people for the PM\u2019s rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gadkari inaugurated various development works in the city in Karve Nagar. Not many BJP workers were present at the programme. Senior BJP leaders took note of this. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol is conducting review meetings daily. State and city level leaders are also monitoring preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Modi will be on a visit to the district on September 26. After inaugurating the underground Metro route from Shivajinagar to Swargate, he will address a public rally at the SP College ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this backdrop, the city unit of the party would stage a show of strength ahead of the state polls. It is said that the PM\u2019s public rally will be a harbinger of the State Assembly elections. The BJP is making special arrangements to ensure that citizens turn up in large numbers at the rally. Party office-bearers are arranging transport from many parts of the city to the rally venue. Many senior leaders are working hard for the rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Planning for the rally by aspirants<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aspiring office-bearers of the party have planned to mobilise crowds from their constituencies to show their strength to senior leaders. They are appealing to citizens to attend the rally by posting requests on various WhatsApp groups in their area. Citizens\u2019 names, mobile numbers are sought to arrange vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM to travel by underground Metro<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PM Modi will inaugurate the underground route of Metro from Shivajinagar to Swargate. Later, he will travel on this route up to Swargate, from where he will reach the SP College ground to address the rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rain may play a spoilsport<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PM will address the public rally at the SP College ground. However, the ground has become muddy after heavy rains on Tuesday. Murum (brittle rock) is being dumped at muddy spots. Rainfall is also predicted on Wednesday and Thursday. This may adversely affect mobilisation of crowds.
