Almost after 11 years of a long court battle, the Bombay High Court has finally given a judgement in the Maharashtra Kesari wrestler Sanjay Patil murder case. In this case, the court has fined a total of Rs 2 lakh to the former Superintendent of Police K.M.M. Prasanna and then Additional Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe for unlawfully arresting the then Police Inspector Sambhaji Patil, who was investigating the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This decision was given by a bench of Justice A.S. Chandurkar and Justice Rajesh Patil of the Bombay High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the information given by Sambhaji Patil, the wrestler Sanjay Patil was murdered on January 15, 2009, at Malkapur. The then Police Inspector Sambhaji Patil filed a chargesheet in the court against eight accused in this crime. After that, Police Inspector Murlidhar Muluk and Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Tangde investigated the case further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the then Additional Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and Superintendent of Police K.M.M. Prasanna ordered further investigation in this case and arrested Police Inspector Sambhaji Patil in March 2013 before the court’s decision. After that, the Karad court granted bail to Sambhaji Patil. From March 30, 2013, onwards, Sambhaji Patil made continuous written applications regarding arrest and investigation in this case to the then Director General of Police and other senior officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, finally, the court accepted the written and oral arguments of Sambhaji Patil and clarified that the arrest against him was illegal. It also ordered the government to pay him Rs 2 lakh as compensation within 8 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While speaking on this judgement, Sambhaji Patil said, “The then senior police officers illegally arrested me without any evidence. Even after I sought bail, it was not granted. This caused huge losses in my remaining service and in my family life. I fought this case in court for more than 11 years.
