Pune: The Mutha river was flooded on July 25 following a torrential rainfall in catchment areas of the Khadakwasla dam. Many housing societies and shops in Ekta Nagari were inundated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) surveyed the area and found that 103 buildings were built within the red and blue flood lines. They included 1,383 flats and 67 shops. The State Government announced that the constructions within the blue flood line would be rehabilitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, these flat owners will be rehabilitated behind the proposed Sinhagad Road Police station, on a PMC-owned plot in Vitthalwadi, Hingne. The civic body sent a proposal to the State Government in this regard. Municipal Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale revealed this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bhosale said, \u201cWe have sent the proposal to rehabilitate affected buildings within the flood line. The PMC has a plot behind the proposed Sinhagad Police Station, where the rehabilitation project is planned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his visit to the flood-affected areas in Ekta Nagari then, CM Eknath Shinde said that affected citizens would be rehabilitated permanently by building a cluster giving it a special status. Then the PMC conducted the survey and found that 103 buildings were located within the blue, red flood lines. The total residential area of these buildings is 87,399 sq m while the total commercial area is 1,340 sq m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Development Control Regulations, a cluster can be built on a plot bigger than two hectares, where population density is less. The State Government has implemented such schemes in Thane. On the same lines, a plan will be prepared for Ekta Nagari. The project\u2019s estimated cost is Rs 698 crore.
