Pune: A main accused in the Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case, Walmik Karad, who the police were searching for many weeks, surrendered at the CID Office, Pune on Tuesday (December 31).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Karad released a video clip, in which he said that he was ready to serve punishment if found guilty. The CID has launched a massive manhunt for the accused in the Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As many as nine CIS squads and over 150 policemen have been searching for the absconding accused. Still, not a single accused could be traced. A couple of days ago, news spread that Walmik Karad surrendered before the police in Pune. But it was a rumour. The opposition alleged that the government did not arrest Karad because of his proximity to State Minister Dhananjay Munde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, Karad surrendered before the CID on Tuesday. Before surrendering, he released a video clip, in which he alleged that a false case was lodged against him for extortion at the Kej Police Station. I am surrendering at the CID Office. The assailants of Santosh Deshmukh should be arrested. They should be hanged. I am being framed in the case out of political jealousy.
