Solapur: Former Solapur Mayor Mahesh Kothe died of a heart attack. He was on a visit to Prayagraj on the occasion of Kumbh Mela, where he breathed his last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kothe was a heavyweight leader of the NCP (SP) from Solapur. He recently contested the State Assembly Poll from the Solapur North segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the details received, Kothe, along with his friends, was visiting Prayagraj to participate in the religious gathering. He took a holy dip in the Ganga river and immediately suffered a heart attack due to severe cold weather conditions. He was rushed to hospital but was declared dead before admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahesh Kothe was the son of Vishnupant Kothe. Both were close associates of former Union Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. The Kothe father-son duo played a crucial role in strengthening the Congress in the city and establishing the party rule in the civic body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, Mahesh Kothe joined the Shiv Sena, which he eventually left to join the NCP (SP). He became the Mayor in the Solapur Municipal Corporation. He was known as a strong leader across the State. Citizens are mourning the loss of a good leader.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
